AL ANDALUS EXPRESO

afbeeldingThe Al Andalus Express is a five star luxury hotel on wheels. This train rolls smoothly across southern Spain stopping, in the manner of a cruise, to contemplate the masterpieces of the country's most resplendent centuries. Shopping and lunch at local establishments add to the experience.

On board, make yourself at home in luxurious 1920's rail carriages. These antique cars are meticulously restored in Belle Epoque style. The two dining cars offer white glove service. There is live music for cocktail hour and after dinner dancing in the parlor car. The sleeping cars are equipped with half or full baths and 2 cars feature private showers and dressing rooms.

The seven day, six night itinerary begins in either Madrid or Seville and includes stops in Cordoba, Granada, Ronda, Marabella and Jerez.

The sleeping cars offer a choice of accommodations. Standard doubles have a lower and upper berth and en suite wash basin. The berths convert to a sofa during the day. A double can be occupied as a single. A deluxe double is formed by combining two adjoining doubles. Thus, one compartment can be used as a sitting room and the other for sleeping, or both cabins' lower berths can be utilized.

THE EASTERN ORIENT EXPRESS
afbeelding
Journeys in South East Asia

Until recent years, many parts of South East Asia were readily accessible only by train. It is a region of open spaces, meandering rivers and dense jungle and much of it remains untouched, offering some of the most breathtakingly beautiful scenery in the world. While travel options may have increased, nothing yet disturbs the serenity of this enchanting region. No concrete jungle exists to impinge upon the real thing.

Explore Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand memorably by rail in the sumptuous comfort of the Eastern & Oriental Express train. The Eastern & Oriental Express is the ultimate centerpiece of a visit to the Far East. No destination ever promised more for the sophisticated traveler than South East Asia; and there can be no doubt that the Eastern & Oriental Express connects some of the world's most remarkable cities where intertwining cultures produce the fascinating ambiguities of the East: modernity surrounded by ancient mystery, stillness and calm in the midst of bustling urgency. The style and splendor of the Eastern & Oriental Express, with its elegant compartments, delicious cuisine and superb service, combined with the adventure of a journey through the heart of Asia, provide a unique travel experience.

Throughout Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand, the train opens up the hidden secrets of the countryside like a lotus blossom. And no train is more redolent of the romance of this deeply traditional way of travel than the Eastern & Oriental Express. This is no ordinary train. Designed to withstand the rigors of climate and terrain, it will carry you in style and comfort on a journey you will always remember.

From its air-conditioned and luxurious carriages you will watch the world glide by; a world of warm welcomes and gentle people, of temples and traditions, aromatic spices and charismatic smiles, a world in which ancient religions and timeless superstitions contrast vividly with the modern preoccupations, pace and pressure of some of the most exciting and progressive cities on earth.

afbeeldingIn South East Asia, tradition and subtlety meet commercial and contemporary reality head-on. The result is endlessly fascinating and always surprising, a melting-pot of memories and experiences, heightened by the fact that you are viewing the countryside form an ideal vantage point - the Eastern & Oriental Express.

During the journey, recognition dawns that each finely considered detail is a tribute to each individual guest, signifying our pleasure at your presence. The spacious compartment, boasting elegant appointments, glows with diamond marquetry, combining inlaid woods with antique brass and connects with an ensuite shower. Of course, on a route that traverses tropical jungle, the entire train is fully air-conditioned.

The Dining Cars are sumptuous combinations of rare veneers and lacquered Chinese panels. While reflections from subdued lights dance off heavy crystal and French silverware, the passengers' clothes reflect the mood. Fine wines encourage good conversation and sharpen the appetite. From the kitchens, where talented European and Asian chefs have pooled significant creative resources, comes a tempting the most delicious travelling innovative Eurasian cuisine. A tinkling piano in the Bar Car (mirrors, pale ash panels and lotus motifs) accompanies intriguing cocktails.

When it's time for afternoon tea, you'll detect a palpable British influence. sipping Earl Grey and nibbling a scone can recall memories of more leisurely times. And you've got all the time in the world to explore the Train. Whether you're crossing Malaysian rubber plantations or Thailand's terraced farms, survey the passing country with an apertif in your hand. Then a refreshing shower before a delicious dinner. There's ample opportunity to meet your fellow passengers during the evening over cognac and coffee in the Bar Car. Early mornings find you passing through some of South East Asia's most exciting scenery, fresh from the dawn. And fresh croissants, coffee, tea, juice and fruit arrive at your cabin at a pre-appointed time.

Experience the return of exotic travel as it was meant to be: the exclusive privilege of watching unforgettable vistas unfold at a graceful pace. Every stop is a fresh adventure, a beguiling place to explore, connected by a mode of travel where beauty and comfort combine.

THE PRIDE OF AFRICA
The Routeafbeelding

A spectacular 12-day journey across Africa from Cape Town to Dar Es Salaam awaits you aboard The Pride of Africa, one of the world’s most luxurious trains. Guests will board the beautifully restored, privately owned Classic Train with carriages dating back to the 1930s and â€ë40s, and travel in the footsteps of such illustrious adventurers as Livingstone, Speke, Stanley, Burton, Blixen and others.

afbeeldingThis safari will take you through South Africa with a brief visit to Matjiesfontein, the charming Victorian village, and tours of the diamond town of Kimberley and the capital city Pretoria. Then a visit to famous Kruger Park Game Reserve for game viewing and overnight 5-star lodge accommodation. Crossing into Zimbabwe the train continues north via Bulawayo to the mighty Victoria Falls, where guests will enjoy a tour of the spectacular falls, a cruise on the Zambezi and overnight at the lovely Victoria Falls Hotel.

The journey continues across Victoria Falls, through Zambia and across Tanzania, where the incredible 1800km Tazara Rail Line crosses some 300 bridges suspended above rivers and ravines and snakes its way down the African escarpment. The epic train safari descends from the highlands 1700m above sea level to the panoramic coastal plains and finally into the city of Dar Es Salaam. An exclusive, luxury adventure not to be missed.

afbeeldingThe beautifully restored train consists of up to 19 coaches which can be drawn by either Steam, Diesel or Electric locomotives operating at various stages of the journey. The Sleepers, as well as observation and dining cars have been splendidly refurbished in the style of the period - but with an eye for modern-day comfort.

afbeeldingThe train carries a maximum of 70 passengers who are attended by highly motivated members of staff and the cuisine is of the superb standard befitting an exclusive tour.

The luxury accommodation on board combines the opulence of pre-war travel with subtle modern innovations. The coaches have been lovingly restored to their former glory with fine attention to detail. Use of traditional furnishings and period decor, with exquisite craftsmanship evident in fine wood panelling has ensured that the atmosphere of elegance and grandeur is maintained. The train offers two types of suites:

Royal Suites

afbeeldingLuxurious and elegant, the Royal suites are spacious (approx. 16 square meters) and each takes up half a carriage. Each suite has a private lounge area and accommodates two people with a choice of twin beds or double. In the en suite bathrooms original fittings are combined with the modern technology of hot showers, hairdryers and shaver plugs.

De Luxe Suites

These luxury suites, restored with equal care and finesse, also accommodate 2 passengers in either double or twin beds, and have en suite bathrooms and lounge areas. Each deluxe suite occupies approx. 11 square meters.

THE OVERLAND - INDIAN PACIFIC - THE GHAN

An adventure spanning AustraliaThis is one of the longest rail journeys in the world, through some of the most inhospitable yet spectacular country on earth. It is an adventure that spans the massive continent of Australia, coast to coast, ocean to ocean.

Indian Pacific LogoThe Indian Pacific travels 4,352 kilometres, from Sydney, through the beautiful Blue Mountains; across rich farming lands; through historic mining towns such as Broken Hill; through Adelaide, the elegant capital city of South Australia; across the desolate Nullarbor Plain on the longest straight stretch of railway track in the world (478 kilometres) to the historic mining town of Kalgoorlie, before arriving in the beautiful city of Perth on the Indian Ocean.

Experience a Journey to the heart of Australia

In 20 magic hours from Adelaide, The Ghan will take you 1,555 kilometres through the Outback, to the mysterious Red Centre, the very heart of Australia.

You will travel through some of the harshest most forbidding country in Australia, in all the comfort and style of a fine hotel where, after a peaceful and relaxing sleep you will arrive in a real oasis, Alice Springs.

Tha Ghan logoThe legendary town, made famous in Neville Shute's best-seller, 'A Town Like Alice', is the perfect starting point for Australia's Outback attractions; the majestic Uluru (Ayers Rock), the ancient splendour of the East and West MacDonnell Ranges, King's Canyon and the mysterious beauty of Kata Tjuta (the Olgas).

A romantic overnight journey

More than a hundred years ago, The Overland pioneered inter-capital rail travel in Australia. A century on, this historic train still provides a comfortable and convenient overnight service between Adelaide, South Australia, and Melbourne, Victoria.

Overland logoThe 828 kilometre journey takes approximately twelve and a half hours. The Overland allows easy travelling between Adelaide, with its gracious architecture, located in the heart of Australia's premier wine producing regions and gateway to the Outback, to the cosmopolitan city of Melbourne, the sporting capital of Australia, with its fabulous shopping, nightlife and extensive dining options.
