JAPAN RAIL PASS

Japan Rail Pass

With the Japan Rail Pass, you can freely board almost any train on Japan Railways Group ( JR Group ) lines throughout the country, including the Bullet Train as well as some ferries, buses and subway lines.

Purchase 7-, 14-, or 21-day passes for either Green Car (first class) or Ordinary service and upon your arrival in Japan you can even reserve seats for your travel (no extra fee).

A Japan Rail Pass cannot be purchased inside Japan.
You must purchase an Exchange Order from an authorized sales office or agent before you come to Japan. After you arrive in Japan, you turn in the Exchange Order to receive your Japan Rail Pass at an applicable JR station or at main airports that have a Japan Rail Pass exchange office.

JAPAN RAIL PASS types and prices

There are two types of JAPAN RAIL PASS: Green (for superior-class Green cars), and Ordinary. Each of these types is available as a 7-day, 14-day, or 21-day PASS.See "JAPAN RAIL PASS validity", for services that can be used with a JAPAN RAIL PASS.

Remarks:
  • Green private compartments are on certain limited express trains, such as "Narita Express" and "Super-View Odoriko."
  • Use of "Home Liner" and other "liner" trains requires an additional charge.
  • Many JR trains have Green cars (superior accommodations); all have ordinary cars. You can use Green cars or ordinary cars with a Green-type Japan Rail Pass, and you can use ordinary cars with an Ordinary type Japan Rail Pass, without paying additional charges. The car with O can be used with Japan Rail Pass. Use of the car with X requires paying additional charges.
  • The valid period of a Japan Rail Pass is the consecutive 7, 14, or 21 days beginning on the date the PASS is first used. You must specify, when you turn in your Exchange Order for your Japan Rail Pass, the date that you want to start using the PASS; it can be any date within three months from the date the Exchange Order was issued. Once the PASS has a starting date written on it, the date cannot be changed.

Let op: De Japan Railpass is niet in Japan te koop. Veel reisorganisaties in Nederland verkopen deze pass. Je krijgt een voucher die je op Narita Airport, New-Chitosede Airport en de grotere treinstations in Japan kan omwisselen voor de railpass.

 

 
 
INDRAIL PASS (INDIA)
India through Indrail Pass

Indrail Passes can be purchased by foreign nationals and non-resident Indians. Payment is accepted in US dollars, pound sterling and other convertible foreign currency in cash, travellers cheques and credit cards.

An Indrail Pass enables the holder to travel as he likes, from any point in any train in the class it is issued for, with in the period of validity. Passes are available from half-day to 90 days duration and can be used within one year of issue. The validity period starts from the date of the first train journey and last journey should be commenced before  the midnight of the last day.

Request for reservation can be made through the nearest General Sales Agents abroad. No reservation fee, superfast charge or surcharge for the journey need be paid.

LET OP: De Indrail Pass is alleen op de grotere stations in India te koop (en sommige reisagenten). Buiten India zijn er maar een zeer beperkt aantal sales agents wereldwijd die de Indrail Pass aanbieden.
